    Morning

Have a 2010 focus and just have a question..
Washed the car on Monday evening. Was frozen solid on Tue as I informed use it. The key would not turn in the lock yesterday. Had to use the remote key to open and close car.

Is this a fault with the focus. My first winter with the car. Any thoughts?

I don't really understand your question, but if you washed the car it may leave water residue that will freeze.

What I meant was I did not use the car on Tuesday. And is this a common thing with the focus door lock or the fact that it was washed on Monday night?

If a fault with the focus then could also freeze over after rain

Car locks often freeze. It's not indicative of a fault. Most people use remote locking these days, but some cars only come with 1.
Some oil in the lock may help.

Water gets hard when it freezes, if everything else was frozen, good chance your lock was too.
That's what the remote is for though...

Not totally sure if this is what you're asking though.

No it's not a specific problem with Ford's. All car locks are susceptible to being frozen. You washed the car so water got everywhere rather than like a light rain etc. Some water may have found it's way inside the lock whilst washing, froze solid after so long left in the cold. A simple rain fall most likely wouldn't cause the same issue. As has been mentioned, a bit of oil or lubricant mineral spray oil will help prevent this. Don't use WD-40.

If you used a sponge or something to rub/wipe along the door lock, it's very easy for water to end up inside. All it takes is a tiny amount. A spray of mineral oil will help prevent it sitting in, it should just bead up and fall out in future.
