Going rate for make up?

    Hi all,
Just curious to know what prices are you getting for bridal make up in different areas around the country? Are most make up artists insisting on minimum numbers, what is additional price quoted for trial? I feel like there's very little room for haggling on price because they're in such short supply for availability that they can often just name their price?
That said I'm willing to pay the right price for the right person on the day.

I think I was quoted around €45 - €50 for my own.. It is all a bit scatty I think..

One lady did not charge for a trial,
One did as far as I remember but she was fairly quick to tell me to get someone else, when I asked her could I try a differant style of makeup.

I was quoted an additional €50 to travel to the venue for the day..

I was quotes anywhere from 250-400 for 4 people. Needed up paying €350 with travel for the person I wanted.

It's hard cause so many book up so quickly!

I paid 275 for me and 3 bridesmaids. 50 for my trial. Well worth every penny imo. She was at my house for 4 hours and travelled from the other side of the city. Hair was the same price.

I'm close to booking someone in the limerick region now just amazed at the variation in price. Its very much a monopoly when availability is so limited for a Saturday morning

Wow seriously? What a rip-off! They're only charging that much just because it's for a wedding.  Had no idea it was that much. It's not like people usually ask for elaborate looks!

I got married five years ago but the MUA charged the same rate for a wedding as for any other event. It was a fee for her services regardless of the event.

40 to 50 per person seems ok if the make-up artist isn't travelling very far, but the 250 euro for 2 people incl trial someone mentioned above seems outrageous to me.

I seem to be paying well above the odds here - it's 490 for me, my 3 bridesmaids and my mother. She does have a fair distance to travel though and this includes 50 for my trial which I've had and loved...

That's a shocking high price.  Was her make-up that high-end?

She did use excellent high-end make up and she had very good products that suited even my hyper-sensitive skin. She also did a fabulous job on the trial and I managed to still look like me at the end of it - just better! :pac:

I know I'm probably paying far too much but there are plenty of other areas where I haven't had to pay a thing so I'm not going to stress too much about it! I certainly don't feel I'm being ripped off as she does have to travel a fair bit too on the day!
