    I think it makes sense for some users, in some locations.

    For instance, mine are across the other-side of the room for me, so I wouldn't be able to see a display. However if you had one on your kitchen counter or on your bedside table, then it would make a lot of sense. So adding one as an option is a good idea.

    It would only annoy me if they removed the other options and left this as the only option.

    Instead I think we will see them expand the range of devices with Alexa to many different sizes and form factors. I could imagine Alexa on a screen in your car, on a screen at your front door, etc.

    I hope to see Google Home expand similarly. I certainly hope they bring out a dot type of device, maybe an updated chromecast audio with mics, etc.

    Having said that it would also make sense to integrate these into smartphones, tablets, PC and TV screens. So if you ask a question, it displays the visual answer on nearby screens.
