Hi, I have a refund due back to me from my recent filing, and normally I get these as cheques but have yet to receive it.

I faintly recall that we need to now add our bank details to ROS in order to get the refunds processed, is this right?

If so after I add my details will the refund be processed straight away or do I need to re-request it?

I got a refund in two days the last time, much easier using your bank account but maybe they still issue cheques?

If they've no account details you should still receive a cheque. How long ago did you put the filing in?

So I checked through my mails as I recalled getting sent something, but I thought I had deleted it... found this from ROS sent in Oct:
    Payments and Refunds
For mandatory e-filers, cheques will no longer issue for refunds of Income Tax. When in a tax refund position, you will need to ensure that your bank account details are recorded on ROS and are up to date. Please login to ROS and on the My Services page go to Manage Bank Accounts and select Manage EFT in the Refunds section.

I wonder then, does the refund trigger as soon as the details are put in?

If you can access "My Enquiries", send an email to the local Inspector of Taxes office letting them know that you have filled in the bank details. (Refunds for self-employed are approved by the local tax district).

There's an email phishing scam going around re tax refund.

Well said....the MyEnquiries system in ROS is a secure way of contacting Revenue rather than rely on unsecure emails.

Revenue should not email you unless it's through MyEnquiries....

Or ring them. They are very cooperative.

10 days after you enter them. You'll get a message on ROS confirming the details after you enter them so you can check that they're correct.
