How do posts/appointments work in Primary Schools?

First time posting in this forum. I'm not a teacher but a family member is.

Could somebody please explain the process of appointments for a new primary school?

As I understand it - a principal is appointed, then each year a new teacher is appointed as the school continues to grow and moves from j-infants to s-infants and so on. If there are a certain number of pupils with learning difficulties then I assume a learning support teacher is appointed.

But at what stage are B post, A post and vice-principal appointments made? Is there a hard and fast rule – once you hit x number of teachers then a VP is given. Or is it at the discretion of the school when to appoint a VP?
Similarly with posts. As I understand it there is a moratorium on posts in existing schools, but news schools will be appointed B and A posts as the school grows. Are there a number of teachers or pupils needed before a post position is given to the school?

Also, do the rules change depending on the patronage?

I may have gotten a lot / all of that wrong, but would really appreciate if you guys could clarify. Cheers!

Theres a lot of information being asked for there but if your family member is a teacher, all this information would be available in their school and/or on the into and Dept of Ed website.
There are guidelines and procedures for all these appointments and are generally made through the BOM
