I noticed this red dust on one of the pulley's of the drive belt . Safe conclusion is rust please see photo attached.

Should i do something about this?
    If so what?
    Will it go bang eventually?

Looks like an aircon pump pulley? So that would make that belt an auxiliary belt. I wouldnt worry about the rust, its only surface rust and would be perfectly normal on a car a few year old.

Yep. Not the timing belt and the rust is completely normal. Belt is in perfect condition even. Nothing to worry about at all. Rest easy.

Yes. Hang your head in shame you cretin. :)

(I once argued with a fellow that a car didn't have a water pump, he just stood looking at me like I was daft (rightfully) while I explained how combustion worked. I didn't know it needed cooling.) :(

Thats the aircon compressor pulley, it has an electro-magnetic clutch that engages and disengages if the aircon is switched on or not.
The purpose of it is to allow the engine to run more freely without the drag of the compressor.
It is normal to have a degree of rust as there are two parts that meet at speed like any other clutch.
As long as your aircon is working it will be fine.
If the A/C is not working that could be a cause.
