Brown Or Black Roof Slates on White Bungalow

I am in the process of haiving the roof on my white bungalow replaced. I thought originally I would go with the standard black or blue black slates that everyone seems to be putting up these days. Anyone out there have an eye for colour and design? I am now wondering if brown would be a good choice. The house is a traditional rectangular white bungalow -- simple design. I am hopeless at these things and the roof will likely see me out so don't want to make a mistake in choosing the colour. Would appreciate any advice or thoughts on this.

Stick to black/blue. Putting brown slates on a white house would be akin to wearing tan shoes with blue trousers....might look ok now, but in five year's time it'll look ridiculous...

Before you spend any money it might be worth checking with the local council to make sure there are no restrictions on choice of materials/colours in your area. I don't think it applies in most areas but for the sake of a phone call you could avoid a potentially expensive mistake.
