Plumbing system query?

Hi all, I have a question about my plumbing set-up
I have 2 tanks, one for central heating and one for water. The main tank has an open vent pipe overhanging from the top of copper cylinder as expected.
However the small tank for heating has no open vent pipe. There is a feed from the tank which fills the heating system, and a pressure release valve on the cylinder coil. Am I right in thinking that the feed pipe is doubling as the expansion here?
My system is about 20 years old if that helps at all, thanks.

Nothing to worry about. You have a semi sealed system. They're pointless really but No harm

    OK thanks
What happens if the valve on the feed is closed and the central heating is operating

as dtp says its a semi sealed system
and just to let you know, you CAN NOT have a solid fuel boiler connected to a semi sealed system

The expansion vessel absorbs the pressure. In open vented systems the small attic tank absorbs the expansion. In a semi sealed system, the small attic tank is merely there for refilling the system

Then the expansion vessel absorbs the pressure

    There's no expansion vessel?

Ideally there should be a vent then and no valve on the pipe

OK so there should be an open vent pipe. Will the water currently expand back up the feed pipe if valve is left open?
What happens if the valve was closed then. Will it blow out the release valve?

What happens at the moment if the valve was closed then?

Then your system has nowhere to expand to. If the safety valve is stuck or capped then first to burst are the radiators, then your boiler will buckle.
