Looking into fuel cards, it seems everyone is offering them, anyone got any experience of them and what's the best to go for, I want something that covers a good part of the country.

AXA are doing some deal with Topaz at the moment not sure of the particulars though.

AA does one through Topaz. You get 4c off a litre until 31st Dec, then it goes back to 2c off a litre after that.

Had mine for a few years, no bother at all.

In Dublin, anyway the 2c reduction just makes Topaz slightly less uncompetitive.

You won't save any money using these cards IMO. The main advantage is convenience of not needing cash every time you fill up.

The Topaz card used to be great in that respect, but since they moved to weekly billing a few years back and changed the pricing structure, it defeated the point IMO and I stopped using mine.

I've since managed to get myself a DCI card on monthly billing. Again no real savings (it may cost slightly more even) but the main benefit for me is one fuel bill per month which I prefer as I do a lot of miles

I've 2 Topaz cards, 1 gives me 4c off per litre and the other is a set price that gets texted to me every Friday afternoon. I tend to use the 4c one most often as my local Topaz (Ennis) has a lower price than the 1 I get texted to me, I tend to use that 1 in Dublin as prices are often up to 6c higher, especially on the N7. The 4c one gets deducted from my bank each week whereas the other 1 is a monthly deduction

Get a DCI card thru a credit union, mine gives 4c off per litre.

works in almost all petrol stations except applegreen.

Just find you local (reliable) cheapest station, and pay with your card there.
I have my card set up with a DD with my credit union, weekly/monthly billing isn't a concern for me.

I have used DCi for a few years and found them generally good - until this month.
I thought the last bill was unusually high, and a quick bit of arithmetic showed I was being charged €1.34 / l of diesel, pump price was €1.17.
Not a happy bunny, phoned DCi, they were not exactly apologetic, but have promised to change my plan to €1.16/ l
So beware and check the bill regularly

Been extended until the end of march which is handy.

Beware I have noticed recently that my bill was too high. At my local garage where I refuel the pump price is €1.23 I was paying €1.46 with my DCI card a rip off.
