    Hi all,

I am about to buy EasyBulb Plus specifically due to their price because Philips Hue is very exensive for what I have available to spend.

Anyone here used them or have a final warning before I go for it?
I could put it off and go for Hue at a future date but I am being drawn by this EasyBulb Kit

    Thanks

The biggest downside with those bulbs is that it is one way communication only. If you go with an automation system down the road like openhab, they have no way of definitely knowing the light is on. It is also a more limited system in terms of expansion. You are limited to 4 rgb group and 4 white groups. A group can be one or more bulbs. For example, if you have a white bulb as the main bulb in a room, and then some rgb bulbs for moodlighting, to turn off the white and turn on the rgb, you will use two groups (1xwhite & 1xRGB).

Also, the link you sent is a bit misleading on their part as you need an extra box for the app on the phone to work.

The supplied remote will still work without the wifi box controller however.

Thanks for that. I still haven't bought em. You're saying the best way to go is the Philips hue after all I suppose, despite the price.

If you are comfortable with waiting a while, have a look for yeelight from xiaomi. They are on offer at the moment from gearbest and banggood for €12 or so for the white and €15 for the rgb. They are WiFi direct so controllable from app directly. You will have to wait for them to come from China and they are currently E27 only. The previous Bluetooth version was available in B22 after a while so I imagine they will do them for the WiFi yeelight aswell

    THat yeelight looks handy.
You're talking 50e to fit three in a standard living room and you'd be done right?

Might just do that and sit and wait for em to come.

    Thanks again!

Yup thats it. Get a raspberry pi zero, load up openhab or domoticz and you have a really nice home automation setup.
