So i know the basic difference that A5 is more premium class compared to A4, but what other extra features do you get in an A5? I really like the muscular look of A5, does it come with parking sensors and leather seats as standard?
And in terms of maintenance will there be a huge cost difference?

The A5 and A4 share lots of bits, mechanically they are very similar. The A5 is a bit wider and lower though and standard equipment would be a little better on it than the A4. Leather seats would not be standard on the A5 but newer ones tend to have them or at least half leather seats. Most of the same engines in both, though the A5 tends to get the more higher powered versions.

Ok. So the A5 is going to consume more fuel compared to A4 given it has more power.

    What about maintenance cost?

Unless your going for the large engined or Quattro models then fuel economy is going to be similar, assuming your looking at diesel models.

Maintenance costs are going to be similar too between the two, standard prices that come with premium German brands.

Practicality: A5 is a hatchback, while a typical A4 is a saloon (though there are station wagons as well).

I saw Quattro edition with 180 bhp but it's way too expensive!!

I have never owned a German car before, how much would be the average annual maintenance like?

That's a how long is a piece of string type question. It all depends on what needs fixing or needs replacing.

That's true. What i meant is what's the once a yearly routine service like assuming no parts needs to change. Only regular change of oil etc

Depends where you go. Main dealers will be way more expensive than an independant garage. Most parts are very common used throughout the VAG range. The 2.0 TDi is used in cars from VW, Skoda and Seat too so there is nothing overly complicated in that area.

Timing belt interval is 120,000 km or 5 years on those engines afaik. Flywheels tend to start wearing north of 100,000 miles and are not cheap, probably talking around 1k to change the flywheel and clutch.

That's great info and thank you. Would main dealer charge like 200 bucks or more for a regular annual check (given nothing needs to be changed)?

Is it possible to get VW or Skoda parts in an Audi after cars warranty is over?

Main dealers not just Audi charge alot more than your average independent garage. Audi dealers tend to have fixed price servicing these days but what they charge you will depend on what they think needs doing to the car based on Audi's recommendations. Also some Skoda/VW or Seat dealers can be authorised service centres for Audis and may work out slightly cheaper.

I don't own an Audi so I don't have any more specifics on what VAG common parts can be used and if it's cheaper to use similar parts from other VAG models.

It has been witnessed numerous times, even here - despite servicing only with OEM parts, the discs and pads in any Audi wear extremely fast... /s

Audi dealers are not the only ones doing that to be fair.

    Cool.
I couldn't get much reviews on YouTube for A5 but A4 definitely got many positive reviews

As an A5 driver for the last few years, I genuinely couldn't find any issue to discourage anyone from buying one. Loved it and will miss it when I do change.

Could you please tell me what's the dealer rate for annual service given everything is fine?
And why would you switch to another car if i may ask?

Hi Masterboy 123 Audi have a fixed service charge of €189 which i paid for on my last two services on the A3.Filters for the climate control came in at about €40 on top of that. this is a standard service charge, major service charge would be more expensive. mine was on 30,000 service intervals on long life oil as i do nearly that mileage per year.

A5 2.0T 180bhp automatic, 7.8l/100km with only a third of the driving done on the m50, lately renamed as free public car park.

    Who needs diesel these days.

A6 2.0TDI 187BHP Automatic 5.4L/100KM diesel only costing me 95c after VAT rebate
I definately need diesel these days

    What about A4 and A5?
I wasn't expecting such a great mileage with A6 to be honest.

I have an A5 Sportback Quattro 180bhp. Roughly 6l/100km. Beautiful car, manual gearbox is one of the best around..pulls hard through every gear and looks the biz (ibis white). Make sure you get the LED headlights!

Cool so it has a range of over 800 kms. I am looking for one with automatic transmission. I like bmw 4 series also which has better interior look but from outside A5 looks more slick.
