Planning on getting away for a weekend early January but tied between BArcelona or Berlin, can anyone shed their experiences or recommendations? Many thanks

Biggest consideration at that time of the year will be the weather and specifically the temperature, it will be much colder in Berlin and you will need a pair of very good (and warm) boots or shoes.

Average January temperature in Barcelona: 10C, Berlin: -1 C.

Depends what youre into. For history then Berlin wins, i like winter weather so again Berlin for me. For food it would be Barcelona but for drink Berlin. Shopping probably better in Barcelona. Berlin is probably a little cheaper too.

Berlin defo. Your head would be melted on Las Ramblas with all the prozzies, con artists and pickpockets.

I really enjoyed both cities so I would go for the cheapest flight and accommodation option!

You won't go wrong with either but Berlin wins for me.

I think both are great cities to visit but if I had to pick it would be Berlin due to the fascinating history. Germany not known for food but plenty of good options if you plan ahead. More of a drinking city than Barcelona

    Berlin is awesome.
Just wrap up well and soak up what will be left of the Xmas atmosphere.
