Pedestrian struck by a cyclist!

I was in the park this afternoon walking along a footpath when a cyclist coming in the opposite direction suddenly veered to the side and crashed straight into me. I took the brunt of the blow on my arm and the cyclist went tumbling to the ground. Naturally my first reaction was to check if the cyclist was ok but he was babbling incoherently and seemed to blame me for the collision! The cyclist was obviously going too fast and couldn't control his bike at the speed he was travelling, which was perfectly understandable given that he'd only recently had his stabilisers removed, as his apologetic father subsequently explained to me. We all then went on with our lives.

And yes, he was wearing a helmet.

Sorry were you walking on the bike lane by any chance?

I'm assuming "the park" is the Phoenix Park.

Irony and satire mostly. Wilful misdirection. Killing some time on a quiet Sunday evening too.

Not really. Two people collided on some unidentified piece of tarmac. Neither was reportedly hurt.

edit: oh sorry, you're the OP so I'm guessing you think the victim is yourself.

This is like one of those "benny tied to a tree" questions from primary school, right? Smells like a trap. :pac:

I think I know this one

If he was traveling at 12mph and you were coming the other direction at 4mph, when you collided I'd already lost 7 minutes of my life reading this thread?

OP just for balance, why don't walk in the middle of the road in the Phoenix park another day and let us know the outcome?

Are the people failing to see the irony doing so ironically? I can't get a clear reading on this thing.

Proving once and for all that cyclists don't have a sense of humor. ;)
Bit like vegans, environmentalist and feminists.

I'm looking forward to seeing the cyclist's go-pro footage uploaded on youtube so we can get the other side of the story

Should have been wearing highvis OP, he would have seen you in plenty of time and avoided the horror that followed.

Even though the original post is humour, its funny how some posters assume the OP was on cycle lane as heaven forbid, a bike be on a footpath!

Who tied Benny to a tree and why?

I did, that prick Benny was the average runner you see out & about, running 2 abreast in the wrong direction down cycle tracks like utter morons -then the same kunts, while in cars the next day, wonder why people are not using the "perfectly fine cycle lanes":rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Some incorrectly refer to them as "cycle lanes", on my route the term "running lanes" would be the more appropriate slang term to use.
