doubled glazed windows

    Built our house in 1996.

    Our doubled glazed windows are pretty draughty lately & im wondering if it's worth having seals/hinges redone or would it be worth it after 20 years with these? What lifespan do windows normally have?

    there is very little else that can wear out.
    replace all the rubbers with top of the range ones. oil everything and adjust all the mechanisms.
    clean out any dirt or stones that are in the slides

    Also, check for any sticky hinges that may have bent under force and leave a gap when closed.. Hinges can be bought on eBay about 10 quid a pair. Easily changed.

    depends if inferior stuff was put in then,does it warp or sag or other issues and is the glass heat retentive?

    i had the same problem and bought some off ebay and they where a bad fit so got a window repair guy in and there like new windows.
    Got 5 pairs of hinges 6 locking mechanisms and 6 new handles for a good price. let me know if you want his number.
