    Hi guys,

Looking for a new phone. I'm a long time Windows user and am thinking Android this time around. I would be using the phone mostly for Snapchat, listening to music and as a screen for a DJI Phantom. I would prefer a screen of at least 5 inches. My budget is €300.
So I ask you knowledgeable people for your help.

    Thanks

One plus 2 is 319 from one plus.
maybe a bit cheaper from other sources
    5.5 inch screen.

Brilliant phone for the price I use it all the time with my phantom.
    Cant recommend enough.

Yep. The oneplus 2. Best phone for around the €300 mark and outperforms some bigger brand phones twice that price.

There's a chance you can find a oneplus 3 new for that if you look hard enough on donedeal and adverts.

    Has it got expendable memory?

That's plenty for me anyway. I probably should have put this in the OP but can you get it on Three?

Well I'm not on Three, I'm Vodafone but I was going to switch for the "all you can eat data".

I switched for the same reasons... It's not worth it. It's all you can eat...at throttled speeds...it goes down a lot and for the €20 top up you get very few minutes/texts.

I'm swapping back to meteor in Jan.

Would you say I would be better off staying with Vodafone then?

I've no idea what they're like tbh. I can just tell you my own experience with three. It's "all you can eat" for a reason.

The One Plus 2 is probably the best but they haven't been in stock on the website for weeks and won't be for another few weeks according to the One Plus rep my girlfriend spoke to 2 days ago. He said they more than likely wont have any One Plus 2s or X's in before Christmas.

Depends on your usage. How much calls/texts/data you use. Also making sure they have good coverage in your area is another thing to consider. If you are on prepay. You can switch and top up €20 to get ayce data to try it out.

I'm on a one plus 3 and use three no complaints
Initially had a roaming dropout but left on automatic network and it stays with three. Getting LTE and 4g occasionally hdspa and im based in the Dublin and north kildare regions.
Can get a bit droopy further afield out of the main areas. Like driving to longford.
Calls are always able to be made no matter where I drive in Ireland.
Tested dual sim capability 3 weeks ago in lanzarote no issues
Calls from main number and data off Spanish sim. Easy to understand and set up.

In my opinion Samsung are great phones and the display quality is better than the one plus.
But there's always little niggles that build up after 4 weeks of usage the s5 I had before was a great phone but the camera always took too long to respond and would lag and get confused especially if you tilted the phone and it tried to redraw the picture.
It also had issues with autofocus on close up shots. Very frustrating when trying to take a picture of a barcode for record keeping.
One plus owned for months and still lightning fast as quick as the day I bought it.

Definitely the OnePlus range of phones. If you can't get them through the official site, you can get it on Amazon. Will possibly mean a longer delivery time, though.

Ah right, that's bad cause I will be getting it next week as my Lumia is buggered.

I tend make a few calls and a lot of texts and I use data for apps while I'm out and about. I never need it at home cause I use Wi-Fi. I'm on payg at the minute and have free calls and text to Vodafone numbers only.

Well €20 on 3 payg gets you:

Free ACYE data (60GB FUP but its not enforced, you don't get charged for going over)
Free texts to all Irish networks
    Free 3 to 3 calls
Free Weekend Calls to all Irish networks
    333 free webtexts a month.

3 also have carrier billing so you can also you your credit to buy things on the google playstore which can be handy.

And this is what I get on Vodafone:
    Unlimited Vodafone calls and texts
    5GB data
    4G speeds
Keep €10 of your top up

I also have great coverage with Vodafone, 4G, and my mother who is on Three hasn't as good coverage.

Vodafone coverage is phenomenal compared to Three. If you don't stream a lot of videos 5GB is actually quite a lot. If speed doesn't bother you AYCE data is reassuring. Personally couldn't deal with the constant switching to Edge.

I wouldn't be streaming any videos. 5GB would be enough for basically a month of Snapchat?

It should be if you use wifi at home.

Oneplus 2 isn't in stock anywhere that I can see unless you want to spend over £400 from a dodgy seller on amazon.
