Sleep Paralysis Experiences

Long time sufferer of sleep paralysis and had another bout last night, crazy aul experience.

Genuinely thought I was being abducted by aliens. Could hear a buzzing sound commonly associated with ufos in movies etc. Then could see the lights and almost 'felt' my body lifting as if a ray of light was being lifted into tha spacecraft. There I am panicking for what seems like 5 minutes and then I slowly thought I'll roll with it. Eventually foot went out of paralysis and experience was over. Needless to say I was freaked although I kinda realised it was sleep paralysis there and then I didn't look to get up until this morning !

So my question to any of you AH sleep paralysis sufferers, what's your maddest experience with it?

Yeah, went through a bout of it about 25 years ago in a newly built house which was on land previously the grounds of a nursing home. Scared the sh1t out of me. Was thinking all sorts of weird sh1t. The movie Poltergeist sprang to mind: "you only moved the headstones!". Then I discovered what it was. As soon as I started to enjoy it, it stopped.

Haven't got that in years, got it a lot when I was a kid.

Also got very real dreams of falling/tumbling down, very real ,& just as I going to hit bottom I wake up.

Get this occasionally as well. Usually when I wake up in the morning and then slip back into a doze. Eyes open again and my body is completely locked up. Not pleasant.

It's such a horrible experience. I used to get it regularly - not much in the last few years. Used to first get the buzzing sound and then completely paralysed. Would be totally aware through it all (or so I thought) and willing my hand to move to switch on the light....could never reach it!

Used to happen to me when trying to sleep at night when hungover. I would kind of get stuck in this half awake half asleep state and then have to scream or convulse to get myself out of it. Hurt myself and others from doing so too!

Get this the odd time, wake up and body is locked.I always think someone is in the room and I go into a sweat, then I just close eyes and nod back off. Its not nice when it happens.

Even the experts don't understand why this happens. Ive done the research theirs sleep specialists with theory's but no real understanding. I went to the doctor about it and they put me on anti psychotic medications and I don't get it as often as I used to. If that is any help.

Most of the time I'm just lying there struggling to move so I can wake up. That in itself is pretty unpleasant but there's no hallucinations.

    But I've also had,
    Floating out of my bed
Being thrown violently around the room
    Being punched in the head
A crushing weight on my chest (supposed to be very common)
Most recently I dreamt there was people coming into my house to kill me. Was trying to scream but of course couldn't move a muscle.

Why can't these experiences be nice, like a hot blonde coming in to the room to have sex with me?

Surprisingly common experience that does go away in time. A complete mystery. The problem is that our consciousness exists outside normal space time reality during rem sleep, which makes understanding the issue very difficult.

I had a girlfriend who had the Night Hag version. Terrifying and upsetting to see her deal with it.

Used to get it and am convinced exhaustion and /or anxiety played a huge part. My panic attacks stopped around the same time.

I still occasionally get this and I call out for my wife to wake me. One time when I eventually woke I asked my wife why didn't she wake me when I called. She said all she could hear was moaning (not the shouting to be woken I think I'm doing) and thought it was just a regular dream so left me.

She knows now to wake me anyway. It's weird though knowing you're having a scary dream and that if you could just wake up proper it'll end.

I used to get this fairly regular and fairly extreme but I think I found a way to make it stop. Try your hardest to enjoy or just allow the experience to happen, try to remain calm and let it just it occur. Talk to the f**ker, try and reason with the thing, ask it in your mind - "hows it going man, back again eh?" That's what I did the last time where it happened to me about 10 years ago and it hasn't happened since, I actually kind of miss it now because it was a great free trip to a proper 3D medusa horror movie of your own mind's making and now I can't get it anymore, and modern horror movies are very $hite.

When I was a nipper, I used to share the bed with my two younger brothers, me sleeping in the middle.

Regularly enough I used to dream I was skiing.

Always woke in the morning telling the other two, about my mad dreams of skiing cross country.

The pair of them used to cal me weirdo.

They said they dreamt they were wankin.

I used to get this a couple of years ago. I can quiet honestly say it is the most frightening experience I have ever gone through. Always felt there was someone watching me or lying on top of me. Haven't had it in about 2 years and hope I never have it again.
