eircom poles - where do I stand

    Hi all,

Grateful for people’s opinions here. I’m in the process of applying for planning permission for a domestic rural house. The Local Authority has requested further information to include 'proposals to move the network poles at the entrance clear of the sightline triangle'. The roads engineer has asked my architect (not in writing) to contact eircom and submit a proposed pole relocation schedule to him before he signs off on my application. In any event it will become a condition of planning as I would have expected.
    I have two questions:
    1. Is it standard practice for the LA to insist on prior consultation with eircom before planning is issued along with the condition to relocate poles? Judging from some posts on this forum, it seems to take a long time for eircom to come out and survey sites so as to identify suitable locations to reinstate poles.
    2. The poles in question are outside my site bounds on local authority lands (roadside). Am I liable to move these poles?
    Thanks in advance, MB
