I have seen an advert on a car that I like a lot, but I see that the road tax expires this month. What is the deal with this? How can I test the car if the owner decides not to renew?

The car will very much still function without a valid motor tax disc.

Basically if you buy even if tax is out 10 years the new owner as in you is not liable to pay back tax.

If you buy you can drive to a test centre even if the car is declared off the road once it is to a booked nct.

If you buy you are liable for 1st day of the month you buy even if that's today you still must pay for the 1st.
