Is it worth reporting to county board?

Odd one here but I'm sure it's not the first case it's happened.

Basically the girlfriend plays ladies football for her parish team. Played there since underage.

Gets a call from manager of the neighbouring team in the next parish and they offer her 150 a month to play and paid gym membership..

Is it worth reporting to county board?

Probably not. Impossible to prove and the board is staffed with lads paying people under the table

How can there be funds for this?

I heard before an example where the Kildare ladies football team played a competitive fixture where the cost to enter was €5. There were 20 people who paid in. They had to pay the county board €70 to rent the field so had €30 left over.

That was at the county level. No disrespect to ladies football but it currently is not a money maker.

How could there funds to pay maybe €1200 to one club player for the year?

    A rich benefactor?

    A rich benefactor?

Yes. But why? Anyway, I suppose my comment doesn't answer the OP's question.

I would say yes, do report it. We always complain about things like this and it won't change if we just accept it. Not saying it'll change by reporting it but you can only try.

What are you going to report? The €150 could be expenses and it's not unusual to give players gym membership.

If your girlfriend wishes to report it I wish her every encouragement. Just make sure it is in writing and also copy an email to the board.

    Someone has to cry STOP.

If you're going to report it, report it to her current club first.

Not sure about ladies football, but very difficult to move to a neighbouring parish club in men's GAA.

Whats your local club, and are they taking incoming tranfers?

I'll see if she can get it in writing first before she does anything.

Her house is about 15Km from their field so 150 a month to cover expenses for that is a bit much ?

    30km round trip 3 times a week x 4 per month = 360 km.
    €150 ÷ 360 = €0.42 per km.
Not outlandish Imo. I charge €0.59 per km for mileage in my business.

Ah here, it's a Junior ladies football team. Expenses full stop are a scandolous notion.

    This is not a business.

Expenses, I would have thought, would be highly irregular for club players to be receiving. Not just irregular, probably against the rules. Traditionally players pay money for the privilege of playing the game, not the other way round. Is it really so ordinary at this point in big clubs that someone can think this is normal or acceptable?

Also, it's quite clearly a case of poaching a player with an enticement. Would be flabbergasted if that was within the rules of LGF.

OP, I'd say she should certainly be contacting her own club so they know what their neighbours are up to (if they don't know already). Might alert them if it happens in future. They can also put the other club on notice that people know what they're up to, should be enough to keep their toes to the fire.

Weird thing to happen though! A junior women's footballer being offered pay? Jesus there's hope for us all yet!
