I tried to cancel an order yesterday but was unable to as it was already dispatched (in record time as well which was surprising).
Amazon customer care said I could just refuse the order. Anyone done this before? Will i be charged return delivery fees? Order comes to about 5kg so posting back could be pricey enough.

I know when you miss the delivery it gets sent back to Amazon. So just refuse delivery as they said.

I ordered a phone case from MINILN THE BOX.COM, for a Samsung S5 - I tried to cancel it an hour later after noticing the openings for the camera on the rear of the case were different to the phone & there was NO opening slot for the phone speaker. (The case was advertised suitable for Samsung S5).
I selected a more suitable case & emailed the company.
Given these circumstances (item not fit for purpose) am I within my right to refuse delivery of the original order & insist on replacement specified (without having to pay for return delivery) ?

Of course you'll be charged. Who else do you expect to pay for the return postage after you've changed your mind?

    Its ok TMaxx.
    I will be refusing delivery.
The product Is Not Fit for Use - Its not a case of me changing my mind.
The item simply does not accommadate the phone

If you refuse the delivery it be sent back to Amazon. Can take a few weeks to be processed but you won't be charged for postage. At least not in my experience.

I was replying to the OP. Your situation is different as the item description is clearly wrong.

    Hi Scruff (or anyone else)

Did you refuse delivery in the end? How long did it take to receive your refund and did your receive any confirmation when they received it back?

Anyone know what happens if delivery attempt is made and you are not there, but they instead give it to a neighbour?

I want to refuse an upcoming delivery from Amazon, but I may not be in the house, would a note on the door suffice?
