Music Speaking Directly to You

Do you ever think "holy mother of vishnu, they actually know me!"? Whether by misinterpretation or coincidence, sometimes a song speaks volumes to a person and other people always tell me they feel this way too. Am I the only conspiracy nut here, reading into unintelligible cryptic gibberish and finding what I need?

The most pertinent, the one that gets me every time, is Elliott Smith "Waltz #2". He says:
"Looking out on the substitute scene,
    Still going strong,
    XO Mom,
    It's OK, it's alright, nothing's wrong..."
It speaks to me because I'm an occasionally out-of-work teacher and I rely on increasingly dwindling subbing. Now, on its own, that's not much, but I actively avoid my retired teacher mother so I don't have to justify my perceived failure to her, because I'm legitimately happy with my life, whether teaching is focal or peripheral. That is oddly specific, and I'm not sure what he meant (any clarification welcome).

Also I have a buddy Eileen who was jizzed on in the last decade and she feels it was eerily premonitionary.

I mean, what more can I say about Judas Priest. They speak volumes boards may not be equipped to adequately interpret, for better or worse. You're not going to find many enthusiasts among the conservative clergy in our midst, but I'm absolutely stoked that it was referenced.

Topically, my good pal Castro confided in me that he was a muso and that the lyrics which spoke loudest to him were NIN, Wish:

    "Wish there was something real
    Wish there was something true
    Wish there was something real
In this world full of you."

He clarified that the final "you" referred to the capitalist God which the western world was so reliant on. I empathise, without the slightest trace of sarcasm. I can also add weight to this recent conjecture and add that his relationships can all be summed up in Smiths lyrics.

    "I would go out tonight
But I haven't got a stitch to wear
...it's gruesome a Commie with soviet inclinations should care..."

Call it censorship, but that's apparently what they've been hearing in Cuba, and it spoke to at least Fidel. Let them have our discount value brands like.

I might have been overly ambitious in my expectations of the creativity of people here with this thread. I mean, prove me wrong, but Saturday at 5am is surely the quintessential time for that. Maybe just get rid of this. I don't even know how fora work in this Godreliant country.

What you are saying is that lyrics speak to you rather than music.
And lyrics, written by other people, living lives not altogether different to yours, may well have similar experiences. Which you recognise, or impose upon them, in their stripped back simplicity, a similar expression. It should hardly be surprising.
And is it really speaking to you ? Or just echoing something you already know anyway ?

(Sorry about your buddy getting jizzed on over such a prolonged period if she didnt like it. People do have a right to say no to that sort of thing)
