Susi query can someone advise!?

    Hi all,

Have an application in with Susi. My mother has received compensation for a personal injury and my father is currently her career. Susi asked me to explain why household were not receiving and income so obtained a solicitors letter to verify that my parents were living off this compensation as neither are in a position to work.

Susi have now asked me to verify the amount that was received for this compensation. Their website and the legislation clearly state that compensation for personal injury is exempt from reakonable income, therefore why should it matter to them what the amount received was.

I don't think that they have the legitimacy to ask me this!?? If there is no threshold and it is clearly exempt, what business do they have asking?

I am wondering if anyone has had a similar query or any relevant information that could help me as they have stopped my maintenance payment and have caused me huge stress!

    Thanks!

Late to the party here but I applied under my Mother and they asked for details of Carer's allowance and other incomes. When they calculated the reckonable income they included these as exempt from the calculation. It is slightly odd, but they seem to gather lots of info and then just use the bits that are actually relevant.

In any case, did you work it out since your post?

    Hi,

I got a successful application for SUSI. They haven't paid for my fees yet. I'm starting to get concerned. If anyone has had previous years paid by SUSI, when did SUSI come through for them? I got word I was getting it in August.
Anybody got advice? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much in advance.
