    I'd say they are rubbish that will blind your fellow motorist and won't pass the NCT. Have you tried changing to a different bulb type like Osram Nightbreakers or Philips Xtreme Vision? Also is the finish of the headlight unit itself degraded and rough?

    The halogen lights on BMWs are piss poor even on brand new cars...one of the reasons they've dropped them is they got slated in the US for their lights.
    I changed mine with the halfords and osrams and they make a world of difference. A proper set of HID upgrades would be even better...especially on this dark evenings.
    Considering the same for my F10

    Just dropping into this thread.

    I have a 318 (e90) and I also find the lights cack. I don't have xenons.

    Are there better bulbs that I can put in? Annoyed that herself's Fiesta has much better lights (and they are also not xenon)

    Jezz, premium cars with halogen headlights are as bad as premium cars with 4 pot diesel engines. :P

    Nothing amiss with the headlight, just gave it a clean to remove general dirt. Which leads to my next gripe, where are the headlamp washers?

    you only have headlight washers for xenon lights.
    You know those bit plastic squares underneath the lights..that's where they are in car with xenons
