    Hi all,

Sorry for silly question but will CAMBRIDGE AUDIO SX80 (I have them already) work with DENON DM40 DAB which is realistically built to handle around 50W per channel if not less?
I am not planning to go anywhere hear half volume, I simply need clarity hence these speakers.
    Thank you kindly :)

p.s. I will also be connecting this DENON unit to TV just to have audio play via speakers. Will be using optical ports on both.

I think you may have it the wrong way round, the speakers are built to handle 100W @ 8ohm, the amp in the Denon is built to push out 30W @6ohm. There is a great explanation in the second reply here:- https://www.avforums.com/threads/need-your-help-advice-please.1983376/

"That Denon Mini-Amp says 30w/ch, but that is 30w/ch to 6 ohms which means only 22.5w/ch to the standard 8 ohm rating. And that power is at 1khz which means full range at reasonable distortion levels it would be lucky to hit 20w/ch. "

So to make a reasonably loud sound you will need to turn up the volume very high which will then distort, play it at a loud volume long enough and something is going to break! So no parties!

I was afraid you are going to say that. I just need a radio with amplifier function. Would I be better off getting YAMAHA RN301 in that case and just go with that? Seems to have network function that I might be able to turn into something usable...

Or I could cool down a bit and get Mission LX-2 instead

Hi, I don't know much about receivers, the Yamaha would be OK with your speakers. You should try the Richersounds forum on here and ask for the right product to suit what you want to achieve:- http://www.boards.ie/ttforum/1105 he also does Boards.ie deals:D

Thanks. That's exactly what I did. I went for Yamaha amplifier with my SX80s. Should work just fine.
