You know it's going to be a tough day when you take a look at a race in Dundalk and see 5 horses that are on your tracker all competing in the same race :pac: For all the abuse that Dundalk gets, the 8:00 should be an absolute cracker with nearly a dozen all having a genuine chance at winning. Out of the ones that were on my list, I am going to go with Burn The Boats at 12/1. Had this last week when it ran over 5f and said the trip just didn't suit as it just didn't have the pace to put that race to bed. Lo and behold it's back out today over the 7f. With a run under its belt, and the horse a lot more settled than I've seen it previously (wore a hood for the first time then, wears it again today), I am very confident that it'll be there or thereabouts tonight. Some early nibbling at the price this morning hopefully bodes well.

Would have thought Levins would try and get it down another 7-8 pounds before going for it. Running over 5F is not a great way to settle it. He will be back to pulling tonight back over 7F.

    I have backed two.

Adieux for Pat Martin in Maiden. Has the best form and running against a lot of disapointing types.

Also backed Teagan Angel at 10/1. Missed the 14/1 by being lazy. Travelled well in the Curragh and last time over 7F in Naas. Looks on a lovely mark and good claimer up. Only danger is the draw. Would have preferred it drawn in 5 or 6.

Newcastle 1:15 - Strange race where prices paid for a horse and breeding diverge. Battle Ensign must be pulling up trees at home, I see no reason why it should be favourite with regard to breeding. The Gosden horse cost 750k guineas, but doesn't seem too warm in the betting considering, so may only be out for a run. Don't really like to be going anywhere near a horse that Aidan O Brien just sold, unless it was a very weak race. That leaves the field open for something to challenge at a big price, so I've taken 33/1 on Power Power, a horse that was out just 3 weeks ago and was given no sort of race at all.

Newbury 2:10 - Menorah is not getting any younger and will certainly not be winning any King George, but how often does he deliver the goods on a seasonal debut? Following on yesterdays theme the some of the younger improvers might just have other targets in mind, I've no doubt it's fighting fit given that it was supposed to be running last week, but ended up being pulled over the ground at Haydock.

Hard to back against anything Godolphin run in maidens at this time of year.
They cost plenty and are soft as putty but these maidens are awful by and large and take no winning.

Not sure if I should be backing this one or calling the RSPCA, but Whozthecat makes has been ridden something like 20 times in the last 6 months. Annoyed I missed the early price of 10, so stuck with 7 which I will have a small bet on just because I'd kick myself if it won, racing as it is off close to a handicap low. Rated at a high of 85 just a year ago and now down to 65, it has showed some kind of bottom and I expect it to put in a decent performance before (finally) being put away for a well deserved rest.

Captain Forez (6/1) in the 12.30 at Newbury. Has experience over hurdles and I want to take on the fav.

Unlucky. Jenkins ran a shocker, totally all over the place, but yet it must have some engine to be able to pull away like that despite burning up all that petrol going around.

Yeah, he's rapid and his jumping should improve. My one concern would be I think he might be a bit soft.

    Monsieur Jimmy 33-1 4.15

2 wins and two place this year, unlucky last few runs, nothing going right.
Dropped into grade 6 here again and has won 2 times in this grade.

If it breaks well it can place

    1pts ew 33-1

Poor luckless Noel Meade again. Snow Falcon travelling like a winner there, though not certain he'd have beaten that winner.

Palavicini Run (R Whelan) only needs to improve a little on her course form to feature. She wouldn't be the best treated at the weights but she is in good order. She is in to be claimed for €12,000 and I would have thought she is value at that.

Brokopondo (R Whelan) ran behind the bridle for too long the last day and got going too late. I have left the hood off today and freshened him up. I am expecting a big run tonight.

Twin Falls (R Whelan) is a filly that was very good as a 2yo but unfortunately she seems to have not progressed in the way we had hoped. She has been working better of late and I'm hoping the racecourse will wake her up.

Seapoint (R Whelan) is a filly that I like. My training was interrupted a bit as she took up an engagement at Goffs sales. I have her as fit as I can but she will need this run and what I'm really looking for is a nice run and for her to get all weather experience.

Burn The Boats (Donagh O Connor) is what we call BFG.
He is a very kind horse with nervous issues. He has problems with the stalls and we are doing our best to iron them out.
He came out of his race well last week and seem to enjoy himself. If he doesn't get upset pre-race then I can see him running a big race over what seems to be more his trip.

Eleuthera (R Whelan) is new to us and this is his first run for me. I don't know much about him. I'm hoping to be a little wiser after today.

El Tren ( A O Brien) is 3rd reserve and his unlikely to get a run.

Bubblesontherise (R Whelan) is having her first run after a nice holiday. She is unexposed and is as fit as I can get her without a run but I'd imagine she will need this run.

Opt Out (D O Connor) is 1st reserve. He is also new to us. He is a lowly grade handicapper that retains ability and should pay his way over the winter. BOL
Johnny Levins confirms what I am thinking at least in his latest on FB.

Has Bishan Bedi lost a leg here?

    D'rock 20-1 LB 8.30

Ran really well on its 3rd outing when running on very strongly. I marked it down as one that will win a race, it has failed to impress since. Ran 4th here two races back though 1.5 lengths off winner.
This is a weak enough race, I think it can win.

    2pts win 20-1

Never over came draw, ran well though.

    Port Douglas 9-1 LB 9.00

Can't see past this one here.
A good chance to get off the mark. SHould win well

    2pts win 9-1
