    Yeah, they want people to believe that it's so black for them that they are selling stuff at a loss. It's a bit like these weekend sales that shops have they advertise limited bargains and hope people will come with cash and when they say the bargains are all gone they hope that they'll spend the cash on something else. I wonder do they really have the 5 fridge freezers for 150?

    The origin is an american accounting term - today, the day after thanksgiving people went shopping and shops turned from being in the red (loss making) for the year to being in the black (profitable)

    Most of the stuff that will be bought will be pure rubbish anyway. It's a bit like a salesman calling to your door convincing you to buy his product and if he never called you"d have done without it. Do I want it or do I need it?

    Some serious offers here in Liverpool. Was looking at a book for young lad in Dublin airport ladt night was €18 got it for £5 here. 20% off in most shops. That with good sterling rate makes good prices.
