Had a friend at work talking about unions,
I dont know much about them myself and was hoping someone here does.

His main thing was, if he joined one how long does he have to be with them?
If he changed his mind after a month or two can he cancel or is there a certain time period you are stuck into...

Any help i can pass on would be appreciated.

Hi. You can cancel your deductions any time you like. Just tell your salaries section to halt the deductions. It's not like a health insurance policy or anything.

Just remember though, you can't just wait until you have a problem and then ask to join so the union can sort it out for you. And if you join, then leave, and then ask to join again, you could be asked to pay for the lapsed period.

I dont think its a case of asking for help and then leaving,
I think he thought it was a good idea at the time, but after properly thinking on it has re- considered.
