Guys, I want to know something. I rented out a twin room in a private house for the University year, but I changed college so I want to move closer to the new college. I asked my landlady what I would have to do to move out, and she said that I would have to find someone to replace me. When she got us to sign the rental agreement, she also got a girl to witness me signing the contract, but also to witness me accepting that I have to find the replacement after the signature.
Since this, many people have told me that all I have to do to move out is give one month's notice.
Firstly, could anyone confirm that ^^^^.
Secondly, from my understanding of contract law, the verbal agreement we made about the replacing is contract - can anyone confirm that?
Thirdly: is there any law against her lying about my legal rights to me, in the event that the 'finding a replacement' thing was bull****?
Lastly: Again from my understanding of contract law, a contract is not valid when one party is under the influence of alcohol (capacity to contract). I was under the influence when I signed the rental agreement, and when I made that verbal agreement. But not only this, so was the girl who witnessed it.
    Thanks guys.
