RAI Italian TV Stations

    Hi all,

I set up a dish for my Italian mother in-law to pick up the RAI Italian stations. All was well for about 2 years taking the stations off Astra 19.2E.

The stations are no longer available on Astra from about a month ago so I realigned the dish to Hotbird 13E. Looking at the channel list it appears the Astra stations are now encrypted.

The problem I am having with the Hotbird satellite is that it only picks up one transponder which is not the one I want. The signal is about 71% on this transponder which carries about 12 channels all locked.

The dish is plenty big, about 1m diameter, Galway City location, I am definitely picking up some of the Hotbird signal as per the above. Any reason why I am unsuccessfully picking up the required Italian stations on the other transponder. I don't think alignment or skew is at fault, I have re-adjusted both. I tried with a different receiver box with the same results.

    Thanks for any advice.

I'm picking them all up in cavan on a t90 set up. the signal is pretty strong too. LNB Faulty? They are encryped mate. Although that needn't be a problem;)

Hotbird is one of the most easy satellites to align a dish to what are you using to align the dish a meter or just moving it by hand? A 1metre dish you'd be better to align with a proper meter

It depends on what channels you want.

    Tuning info
http://en.kingofsat.net/pack-tivusat.php - only some channels are still Clear and even then some sports events are still encrypted if they don't have the rights.

If you want the encrypted channels you need to get a TivuSat card and you need an Italian PRSI number.

Note that while the CAM is cheaper than a new receiver it's only recognised about one boot-up in five in a Humax Foxsat HDR ( Go Figure ) so YMMV if using it in an existing receiver.

Maybe the OP's receiver is only tuned/programmed with Astra transponders ?
