    Hi All

Will most likely be getting a car soon, a 1.2 VW. I am in the mid 20s age bracket, male and on a provisional license. I will most likely get hammered on the insurance.

Any tips for cutting it down, even a small bit? Don't want to have to take a massive loan out just to drive for a year. :o

Realistically, apart from passing the driving test, the only other factor you listed which you can change is the size of the engine.

A sex change would have been an option but since a few years ago, they're not allowed to discriminate based on gender - at least in theory.

Name someone else on the policy like girlfriend , sister/brother or parents will normally get the price down if they have a full license with no penalty points

Priority is to pass your test, and keep engine size as small as possible and make sure car is not over 10 years of age .

Not sure if Aviva still offer a discount for doing their ignition test, but worth checking out.
