    Hi all,

Myself and a friend were thinking of heading off to sunnier weather for golf in late February. The Algarve looks a potential option, but saw that flights to the canary islands seem quite cheap at that time of year (and you are getting better/more certain weather). Against that some of the courses in the canary islands seem pretty poor from the pictures.

Its my first time booking one of these and am overwhelmed by the number of travel operators etc!!!

Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Would you consider South Africa? More expensive and much longer flights, but very cheap when you get there and the rand is very weak now. Golf courses are of a higher standard and can be played for much more reasonable green fees than some of the courses in Spain and Portugal

How long do you plan to go for?

    4 or 5 days probably.

Cheers, hadn't thought of that, will probably stay closer to home for the first trip though.

In that case Spain, Portugal and Canaries are your best options, but you could think about Belek in Turkey also and there is some fairly decent golf around Agadir in Morocco.

You could look at the Lisbon area of Portugal as well - more to do than in the Algarve.

Mind you, its two flights to get to Belek (via Istanbul) and it will take most of a day each way to go and come. Agadir is mostly served by tour operated charters so it may be hard to go for less than a week.
For such a short trip I'd go Spain or (better) Portugal. You might even get a game in on the days you arrive and leave.

Weather can be ropey in Spain and Portugal in Feb.

We do a five nighter in Tenerife in November with 5 games . Courses are Adeje, Amarilla, Las Americas and Golf Del Sur all of which are decent enough. Not cheap though. Five games with buggies and all transfers, including to and from airport works out at approx € 600 each for a group of 12.

Flights and accomidation reasonable though as are meals and beer.

Our operator told us that these courses are almost fully booked til next May so it may be of no use to you.
