As in 3 bay single with open front?

That would not be dipped at that. That a cheap shed . I'm not going to skimp on quality. The shed I have at the minute is a super shed but It did cost me a small fortune though , want to some where in between this time

    Grant spec or not?

Was trying to get a rough price on a 4 bay single with a 14' slat lately. Without shed walls (sitting in between two existing sheds) I was thinking I'd get It done for 20k after the grant.

Ya it was a 3bay single with open front. I can't say what spec it was. I would be thinking it was not a grant spec shed.

Have you priced any one yet. That would seem super price, grand spec getting higher all the time

Would be going direct labour reckon I'd have slats on and passage way concreted for €19000 then surely another €10000 would build a simple lean to type shed. Add another €3000 for anything I'm missing leaves me with €32000. That would leave me with a cost of €19200 after 40% grant. Write it off against tax over a few years would leave it at half that price maybe.

A 3 bay 12foot 6 tank with slats up our way is 12 k plus vat, shed then could cost anything depending on quality, factor in walls , poured or blocks, concrete passage, stones then electric, water, it all adds up. Waiting on a few people to get back to me with prices

Got mine poured this week 40ft with a 13ft slat. It will cost me about 8200+vat. That is digging shuttering and slat. Not great weather with frost when could I back fill?

Its supposed to be 21 days before you backfill. And in this cold weather, I'd try and leave for the 21 days. You could consider backfilling in 15 or 16 days in warm weather.

Their was a fair turn in it for the builder at 49k including vat. well done shed but it will take a fair while for 20 sucklers in it to pay for it.

ya ive been trying to figure out prices for it. Id say it s not too far off the mark to be honest . Remember he has a 9 foot tank and a 14"6 slat. Thats a big tank. He has alot of steel in it dipped and then the mats . If you take the price of the mats out and the 3 extra loads of concrete it around 38 plus vat

Its a fine shed but there a a couple of changes Id make and It would cost him little more if any. Id have made the walk way a crush. it could still be a walkway. Id have done put different gates from the pen into the back bit. Id have them split in the middle to get cattle into or into the crush also he could have creep gate for calves on it. this would not have altered the price much. Having said that its still a tidy shed and hope it makes him plenty of money which the way its going at the minute he wont make a penny ...lol :)

Its way overpriced for what youll get back out of it, and if your anyway half handy youd have it up for an awful lot less, ive done a 4 bay with creep with a 14,6" slat for half the price a while back. im putting up another small 2 bay next spring and i reckon ill be out at around 14k after vat. he only had 1 bay up for the same coin.
As for the pen size, unless theres longer bays you wont fit more than 7 average cows into a pen as each animal needs to be get its share, cows are tramps for bullying as they get on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 577 ✭✭✭gerryirl

agree with you it been overpriced for what youll get back out of it... a 3 bay tank 8 foot with slats my way is 12k plus vat. Everyone is in or around that price. shed then after that and a bit of concrete. Its the shed where the big differ in price is. Dipped, width of uprights etc.

It'll still be standing in 40 years time when the price of it is long forgot..

Minus the vat and minus the grant its the price of a new car.. Which will be in scrap in 15 years time!
