Audio connection on Samsung 40KU6020

    Hi,

I'm thinking of purchasing the Samsung 40KU6020 from Argos. The specifications can be found here:

    http://www.samsung.com/nl/consumer/tv-audio-video/televisions/uhd-tv/UE40KU6020WXXN

Argos incorrectly states the TV has a headphone jack. I currently have an old LG, and I have an old Sony stereo system connected via the headphone socket on the TV to a cable with red and white plugs in the stereo system. These plugs are the only inputs on the stereo. I love the stereo, and I wish to use it with the new Samsung but the 40KU6020 doesn't have a headphone jack; It only has optical out. What are my options here? Thanks.

Any chance of a link to an English language website?

Does it have a scart connector?

This is the closest model I can find in the Samsung Ireland website, the model is UE40KU6000 and it doesn't have a headphone jack or audio left and right phono (usually red and white) sockets for 'audio out'. It's also a 6000 series so is probably identical in terms of connectors to the model on Argos, you're out of luck I'm afraid.

'K' by the way means 2016 in Samsung land, sometimes if you can find the same model from last year ('J'), it might have the older connectors. Take a look at Currys/PC World, they sell a lot of 2015 stuff.

Somebody in the comments on Argos UK said there is no headphone jack.
Also, the same set on Richersounds indicates no headphone port.

    :(
Hard to see that there is no Audio output of any kind for you to use. have you seen an online user manual for that model. this might help

You better believe it - the K6000 model I linked to above has no audio out other than ARC support on HDMI1 and an optical out port.

Kinda crazy really. I guess Samsung are worried about UHD audio drm! Hard to believe its a cost saving measure.

The manual can be downloaded on the link I provided, but I glanced through it already and it's kinda light on information.

I think you can buy optical to 3.5 mm converters, but I'm out of my depth here. Could be issues with volume....

Don't do it would be my advice, there are literally 1,000s of those 'converters' on eBay and elsewhere, most of them are junk. Buy a cheap soundbar.

To be honest, the set looks like great value, but I want my stereo. Bought her about 03 I reckon, and I've just replaced the remote, and she's still a beaut, so it's too bad Samsung. :(

Its a 4k TV, why should it have analogue (3.mm) or other sd (scart) connections?
OP you are correct in looking for a optical to RCA converter, its the only way to use a modern set on a Hifi. The one I linked has 600 mostly positive reviews on Amazon uk so...

    What is 'Scart AFTER'?
Seems N/A translates to "AFTER", oddly enough :pac:
