    Hi,
I'm flooring my apartments attic for storage and would anyone know what sort of timber thickness and height to lay on top of the 40x100mm ceiling joists at 600mm centers. The floor area I'm going to cover is about 5x2.2 meters (approx 1/3 of the usable attic space) and the flooring will be 18mm chipboard tongue and groove.

    Thanks guys

    is it a trussed roof.

    i would used 6 x 2 timber.
basically i wouldbuild a horizontal stud frame that is a structure on its own

Yes it is a trussed roof. Could I get away with using 4 x 2 timbers? Just concerned about the additional weight.

Has anyone used Loft Legs? They would be much lighter than joists and maybe easier to use.
