New car detail

    Lads,

Picking up my new car in January.
I expect after the plastics/muck/whatever else was on it has been cleaned off (with sponge no doubt), the paintwork will certainly need a touch up.

Any recommendations on what kind of a detail it will need. Or suggestions on what I should get?

No problem leaving the car in for a 24 hours somewhere.
Both Spirit & Elite would be most convenient for me. Best of those 2 ?

    thanks in advance.

I'd tell them not to wash it first and leave on the wrapping. Something like a full decontamination including fallout and a claying, a light polish to remove and small defects and a good sealant. Here you have a few options like longer lasting PTFE based sealants/Waxes, high gloss carnauba based Waxes with less durability or something like a 3-5 year ceramic coating which in my opinion is th best. Expensive but will also give the car resistance to swirls and will retain a high gloss finish.

Spirit I think are taking January bookings at the moment but may be full!

    What ya getting???

Tell the dealer not to lay a hand on it when it's delivered.

A ceramic coating is probably your best bet for good year round protection. I've CarPro Cquartz with Reload on top and find it superb.

Both Spirit and Elite are very well reviewed although I've no personal experience with either.

Car has been in since October so it's been well washed etc.

Didn't really cross my mind to tell them to leave it as it was delivered.

Ammo NYC on YouTube have a few videos on this for when you buy a new car. Worth a look. :)

Depends on the condition of the paintwork....

Very light damage - bring it to a detailer, have an Enhancement Detail done; a one stage polish to remove the light defects, and then have it protected to suit your needs.

Heavy damage - Id be wanting the money off the car to have it fully corrected!
