Is this a high quote for boiler replacement?

New Grant vortex 26kw-34kw oil boiler with flue kit + labour. Doesn't include flushing or TRVs. Quote given to me was €3400. I have about 18 rads in the house and it would be a straight swap. Already have 3 zone heating in place. Seems extremely expensive to me. What generally would the grant cost? Thanks.

Yep that is high for the boiler swap, I have been quoted 3030eur for a 120-155 grant vortex he boiler which would be more suitable (I've 16 rads and you've 18)

120-155 is MASSIVELY oversized for your boiler btw. Op do not fit such a size of boiler in your house. 90-110 at a push maybe but I'd say you'd get away with a 50-90. It'd really have to be checked. As for the price, yes that's way overpriced if it's not including a powerflush.

Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it. Our current Firebird is a 90/120 so the equivalent spec will be needed I would think? Sorry I'm clueless when it comes to anything mechanical in the house. I've also applied for the Seai grant using this contractor, do ye know of its easy to switch to a different contractor or will I need to restart the application again?

No a condensing boiler works better if it's slightly undersized so size it correctly. It's far to easy to stick in a big aul boiler. But unfortunately this will only negate the efficiency of it

I got that boiler, flush and 3 zone controls for 3k all in from House2Home last month. Love it so far.

Your quote looks about 800 too high to me
