Replacing integrated dishwasher with freestanding

    Hey folks,

I'm looking to replace my dishwasher and am weighing up my options as regards what to get.

The one I have is integrated and I've no issue getting another of the same, but I'd like to know that I could go for a freestanding one if the price/model is right.

The only issue I can think of is the kickboard - and I'm trying to figure out if that will force a freestanding dishwasher to sit recessed next to the units rather than flush (if that makes sense). I'd also worry that it might get in the way of the door if the machine sat behind it.

Has anyone had any experience with making this kind of swap and what difference - if any - would your standard kick board make? Would I need to cut it out where the dishwasher is or can I just slot it in and work away as normal?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Generally speaking you wouldn't use a kick board with a freestanding unit.

Don't bother, integrated appliances are much cheaper now than they were.

Thanks for that - only issue is I've a decent Harvey Norman voucher that I'd like to use for this and they've a fairly limited number of integrated units. I might just have to buy elsewhere and hang onto the voucher for something else!

Yeah, the kickboard would need to be cut at either side of the dishwasher recess to allow for the freestanding one.
