so I just got a call from my dad asking what is amazon prime on his credit card bill. he signed up for it by mistake and now they have taken the yearly subscription off him. hes raging! doubt any way to get it back so trying to find out what we can actually use it for here in ireland?
we order a good bit from amazon but order over 25 for free delivery to house (i use this for dog food) and he would order and deliver to parcel motel alot. with prime can he get his orders sent to house now instead?

    TIA

I signed up by mistake too, they took 2 monthly payments, you can get refunded easily if you have not actually used the prime service. I went onto amazon chat and was sorted in a few minutes, got both payments refunded.

Loads in the UK got stung too, some who had actually used it once or twice also managed to get refunds.

As for advantages, I have seen a few items on sale that were much lower for prime customers, they also get first call on these current "black friday" deals.

I think yearly subs might be on offer at the moment, so even if you do actually want it you migth be able to cancel and sign up again at a cheaper rate. There was discussion in bargain alerts.

Mainly you can get expiated shipping to the Motel, that's about it. Just for the sake of answering your question!

Actually you can also get these:

Amazon Video (a selection of available oversees items not all items)
Amazon Prime Music (catalogue of two million songs, always ad-free and on-demand)
    Unlimited Photo Storage
    1 Pre-release Kindle book a month

But if you combine it with DPD Parcelwizard (because of the size Parcelmotel won't work) you can use it with Amazon Pantry and there are some substantial savings to be made if you shop right on Pantry even with the 3.85 DPD fee. I have my yearly fee in within a couple of weeks. Some items are 50% cheaper than in an Irish Supermarket.

They try to ram it down your throat at every opportunity, similar to the way Ryanair used to make you jump through multiple hoops to avoid buying insurance. At this stage I don't care what goodies are included - I don't want it.
