Hi haven't used this forum before so not sure if this goes as email also! I thought it strange two children called Michael but apparently this sometimes happened if it was an important family name . So I'm assuming Michael may have been john's fathers name?? . I understand there were chest problems with the children . Elizabeth their granddaughter worked in Jacobs . They lived in George's place not sure where that is ?

Often if a child died young the next child born of that gender would be given the same name.

Mod: I've separated this because it's useful information for others.

There were three George's places in Dublin.

One was George's place North which is still there and off Hardwicke place, up by Temple Street Hospital, one was George's place, Circular Road, off Lower Dorset Street and one was beside number 56 South Great George's street.

Given that they worked in Jacob's, I'd say the last one was the most likely to be their address.

I read somewhere IIRC ,that the reason they would name the next child the same name as the child who died previously, was because they believed that God would never take a child with the same name twice. I've seen this multiple times in my tree.

Yes, they were in George's Place South.

I had thought I was onto something when I discovered a Pelly from another branch living at George's Place but it turned out he was living next to the Hardwicke one.
