    Hi all

Myself and my fiancée are getting married in October 2018 in Kilkenny.

We are both wheelchair users, and are looking for accessible vehicles for the day.

    Would anyone have any suggestions?

    TIA

    Congratulations first of all!

I don't know of any company in KK but you should call taxi and bus companies and they might be able to point you in the right direction.

    Good luck.

Most hotels and venues would have a list of taxi and car companies, maybe try asking your wedding vendor also!

We don't want to draw attention to the whole disability thing. We just want to have a wedding like anyone else

I think the intention was that you ask the hotel/venue where your wedding will be held. No doubt they have had many other clients who have needed accessible vehicles and may be able to recommend a local company who will have such vehicles for hire.

Good luck with the planning and the wedding :)

I don't understand this? I've asked my wedding venue for loads of recommendations, why would a taxi/car service be any different? How would it draw attention? I'm sorry I just really don't understand how my suggestion could be construed as drawing attention.

I've asked the wedding co-ordinator if she can suggest anyone

Can anyone suggest a church in Kilkenny not too far from the Lyrath hotel that would have an aisle wide enough to enable us to go out of the church together as a married couple rather than one having to follow the other.....? As I mentioned in my OP, we are both wheelchair users.

    TIA

I can't suggest a particular church (not too familiar with the area) but I've been in a few churches where the pews aren't made up of those long benches, rather rows of chairs. If you found a church like that, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem for them to take a few chairs off each row to make the aisle wide enough to accommodate 2 wheelchairs.

edit: forgot to ask is it a Catholic or a Church of Ireland church that you're after?

    Catholic

There's also a Kilkenny City & County Forum http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=481 so it might be a good idea to post your query on there too, hopefully someone would have some suggestions.

Look for a limo company that also provides a day to day taxi service, as they are more likely to have wheelchair ramps and a trained driver.

Both of us can transfer in & out of our chairs so a normal car will suffice.

I'm confused, if a normal car will suffice then why do you need an accessible vehicle? Or do you mean a normal car with accessible larger doors?

    Sorry for the confusion

We use wheelchairs, but we're not confined to them 24/7
