Hard to find a simple well lit analogue

    Hi all,

I bought a basic swatch watch around 2 months ago but I'm struggling to get used to it. It ticks like a grandfather clock and the strap creaks like crazy. I also find that the glow in the dark function really doesn't work much.

Can anyone recommend a small, simple analogue with date function and a resin strap that has a decent level of visibility at night?

    Thanks!

It ticks like a grandfather clock

If you don't like the ticking noise, but do like an analogue, you need to get an automatic watch (as opposed to a quartz watch with a battery)

Or maybe a quartz with less of a tick from the stepping motor? They can vary a lot(as can mechanical. Some of mine you can hear ticking across the bedroom in the middle of the night). I've found the Seiko quartz tick the loudest as a general thing, or quartz watches with larger heavier hands so the stepping motor needs more of an impulse.

On the well lit throughout the night front, the two basic types are either electronically lit like the indiglo Yim mentioned or tritium based hands. The third and most common type of luminous material these days requires charging by an external light source. Some last a few hours, but they tend to burn brightly at first and quickly enough go dark. IMHO they don't come close to Tritium based lume.

I've had one of these Marathon Navigators. It's a quartz, but not a particularly loud one, the tritium tubes will stay bright in complete darkness for about twenty years and they're pretty waterproof and robust and tested and passed by the US military to their specifications.

    I didn't think of that!

Probably because I am allergic to unwanted noises, particularly at night time. I've banned all moving parts from my PC (apart from the additional storage hard disks) :p

Yeah, you have to go on the interwebs for one, unless you know a chap or chappess in the US military… :)
