Raise roof on rear bathroom advice needed

    I,m wondering if planning permission is needed to raise the roof on a rear bathroom .The bathroom ceiling is 8 ft high .The bathroom is 11 ft long.
    On the right of the bathroom theres a hallway .
    On the left above the bathroom , there is the neighbours boundary, brick wall ,this wall is vertical ,
    it goes straight up ,with no windows .
    I,,d like to know if theres any planning permission needed to just make
    the bathroom larger by raising the roof ,ceiling height by 7 foot.
    To the left above the bathroom there is a vertical flat brick wall ,the hallway inside is on the other side of the wall .
    The bathroom is entered from the hallway at the top the main
    stairs .
    The bathroom faces on to the rear yard which is about 21 sq metres .
    Would making the bathroom bigger by going up be regarded as a new
    extension .
    The wall on the left has no windows .
    IF i raise the roof could i build right up to the neighbours wall ,
    as it is in the existing extension .

    Any pictures?
    Typically raising the roof requires planning permission but it can vary depending on the situation. The height exemptions limit you to eaves level (gutter on roof).

    It's hard to paint a picture of your situation by just the text alone.

    The new roof would be below the level of the eaves by 2ft.I.ll post pictures when i get home .
    This has no effect on the main roof,
    the bathroom roof is 11ft long sloped downwards,
    width is 8ft approx.
    The main roof would be exactly as it is now.
    The roof would the same size as the old one, made of the same tiles ,so the main work would be raising the front bathroom wall ,making it higher, the same timber would be used to build the new roof.
    The existing front wooden wall is 7ft high .

    May constitute a second floor extension in which case you need planning?

    Heres some basic drawings to give some idea of the scale of the bathroom
    and its location from the neighbours side wall and the distance to the main upper roof.
    N =neighbours roof ,
    X = Bathroom roof ,
    the front of the bathroom wall is 8ft high x 11 ft long .
    W= windows .
    The bathroom is in the middle of a u shape formed by the neighbours side boundary wall, and the other side of the house .

    Is this a 3 storey house?
    Can you post a pic as the drawings don't really explain much.
    Is the bathroom currently at first or ground level?

    I would say planning is required here.

    Another drawing,here ,i,ll try and find an image later.
    green line shows border between ground floor kitchen and bathroom ,
    Large N symbol shows neighbours roof and the neighbours side vertical wall.
    the bathroom front wall is about 8ft high .
    its more accurate to say the bathroom is in a u shape ,on on eside is the neighbours house,
    on the other part of the bathroom,owners house .

    the small roof on the bottom is the neighbours roof .

    the small roof on the bottom of the photo is the neighbours roof .
    green x is the bathroom roof,
    red blue x is the main roof,
    purple x is the neighbours roof.
    bathroom roof is about 40 per cent size of the main rear roof.
    Theres an extension at the back, the ground floor is the kitchen ,the top floor is the bathroom .
    The extension height is 22 foot ,the top of the bathroom roof slopes down .
    The extension was built at least 20 years after the rest of the house.

    Yeah the drawings don't show the true extent of what's on site. Its hard to judge heights, scale and orientation etc
    The aerial image is blurred and cant be made out.

    Either post a link to Google Maps or if you want to keep it private, get someone out to the actual site to make a judgement.

    This is the clearest image i can get from google maps,
    i greyed out surrounding building,s ,
    N= NEIGHBOURS BUILDING ,
    RED X =BATHROOM roof, i outlined the bathroom roof area by drawing yellow lines around the edges .
    M R =main roof,
    S R =SIDE roof

    Get someone out to site to have a look.
    These blurred out images cause head aches :)

    From the limited info available, planning is required.

    i,m not doing any work on this before april 2017,
    I,M just curious if i,d need planning permission .
    I have other things to do ,before christmas.
