Really need to get a decent jacket for commuting to work. It's 9km each way.
Just so many to choose from. Would probably pay up to about 150 if it's worth it.

Anyone know if it's any good?

    It's very black.

(Edit, what I mean is, if I was cycling on a daily commute I think it makes sense to have a colour which is harder for inattentive drivers to miss)

Keep an eye on Aldi/Lidl - i got the best winter jacket from there a few years back. It is black but has lots of reflective pieces (i wear high viz over it anyway), its rain resistant and then has a fleecy inside. Lots of pockets too and stands up to regular washing.

Would you not be too cold in the one you posted? I need some form of barrier from the wind in winter. I have a similar commute to you.

Get the altura night vision EVO jacket (get the EVO version, its lined and breathable) and you can't go wrong.

i have one for approx 2 years and its great. still keeps out heavy rain, great reflective panels.

My one had a light that clipped into a back pocket which was good until i lost it

Best jacket you can get is the algarve 2 from the Sean Kelly shop. It's absolutely brilliant in rain and cold.

    Have they improved the zips?

I had a couple over the years and while the fabric and general structure were very durable, the main zip went in both..

I haven't had any problems with the zip on mine

Have an Endura Gridlock II (high vis) and very happy with it. Keeps the wet off and is moderately windproof. Comfortable to wear on 11k commute.
