    Hi, can you tell me who send the summon to you , garda or court ? I maybe miss a summon as I moved . I don't know where I can ask it.

    Generally the gardai will hand deliver it, if noone is home or they are busy then it gets sent by registered post. I belive it's the gardai not the court that send it, not 100% though.

    Yes that is correct. The Gardai/Registered Post (From the Gardai) is how the summons will reach you. The guard has 6 months from the time of the incident to issue (write up) the summons and have it approved by the court. The Gardai then have a further 12 months to issue it from the incident to you. So you may not receive the summons for at least 12 months as the Gardai can re-issue the summons to you

    The Guard has 6 months to request the summons be issued, not 6 months to write up and approve the summons. The summons can be issued after the 6 months once the initial request (known as making of a complaint) has been made to the court within the 6 months.

    There is no upper 12 month limit from time of incident then for the summons to be issued to you, but rather it should be done within a reasonable time, it can be longer than 12 months and often is. And yes once the initial complaint was made within 6 months of the offence a summons can be re-issued again at a leter date.
