Download speed not the same as speedtest

    Hi,

Just wondering would anyone have any thoughts on this. My company recently signed up to Magnet broadband Fibre 100. Previously with Eircom and speedtest was generally 60-70mbs. With Magnet this now shows as 80-90mbs.

The problem is that I noticed my downloads were slower than usual and when I checked that files are only downloading at between 500kbs - 2000kbs, with the occasional spike to 3-4mbs. This is across multiple test files and websites. All of which are fine when i'm at home (SKY) at 6-7mbs.

I've tried all different connection types, wifi, ethernet, ethernet through hub. Pc, apple no difference. They've sent Eircom to check the line and they say all is fine. They suggested Magnet lower the speed, so tried 70mbs and then 50mbs limits and no difference.

Magnet now just say there is nothing they can do and I'm welcome to cancel.
Problem only happened when I switched. Anyone have an ideas as the Magnet engineers say they've never seen it and are stumped?

Magnet rate limit FTP in their ultimate wisdom. Is this FTP? Their techs should have told you this.

It was pretty much any files, we receive large files from customers. WeTransfer.com, general attachments from emails in outlook express. I also had used a number of test files from download speed websites. All the same.

It was to email attachments that drew my attention. There techs had absolutely no idea what could be causing it.
