    hello

we received a letter in the post with the following

    Dear  X

As you may already Know, super-fast fiber broadband is available in your area, at eir we want you to have the best broadband experience available so we're upgrading all  eligible customers to unlimited Fiber broadband before December 31.

this is a Free Upgrade , simply call ...

My Question is, dose the same terms apply to this upgrade, that applied the letters issued few months back. as in your required to sign up to new 18 month  Direct Debit Contract

    regards

Yes. Its the same with all companies now. Except with Magnet who offer monthly rolling contracts as well as Virgin. In order to get that upgrade you'll need to sign up to direct debit - but it's only to go through with the sign up, you can literally cancel it with your bank immediately after receiving the confirmation letter from Eir.
