Does anyone have this, and if so, is it any good?

Am tempted because it's significantly cheaper than virgin, but can't find a single review anywhere.

I don't have it but is that not an upto 24meg ADSL service? Regardless if it is adsl or fiber, it will be vastly slower than Virgins up to 360 meg offerings. I certainly would not take this if much faster speeds are available at my home.

I'm on an older virgin contract and i get 60mb, I think. That's already beyond what I need. The most speed dependent thing I do with my connection is video streaming...Netflix, Kodi, BBC Iplayer etc.

If it delivers consistent speeds in the 15mb/s+ range, I'm sure that's more than good enough for HD netflix streaming? (Not interested in 4k).

Would like to hear from anyone who has this, and their experience with it. €30p/m is a great deal IF it's sufficient for HD video streaming.

€30 has to be introductory, they're paying €26 to OpenEir for the bitstream line.

If you live next to an exchange itll be 20Mb, fine, if you live 3km from it you'll be down at 8Mb which is pretty limited. Will manage for 1 person but add a second and you're SOL.

It does sound too good to be true, but it looks like the introductory offer is actually €20p/m for the first 3 months, and it goes up to €30 thereafter. You do have to pay €58 up front for the modem alright, but still. If it's anyway near the 24mb advertised it's a steal.

My brother had magnet when he lived in Dublin he said it was dire. He had many nights with either no internet or a service that was unusable.

I'm the opposite end of the spectrum, I have them about 4 years now and after the first few **** months on their DSL, ever since we got their fibre package it has been great, very hesitant to move...

Haven't had downtime in over a year in fairness, and when we did it was a network wide issue, as in, even our neighbours with Eircom next door were out...

In fairness that was a number of years ago and it was their fibre offering which was in its infancy. He went to eircom dsl which although slower was rock solid.

Well I tried to sign up for it on their website, but when I enter my address it will only offer me the option of their 100mb product. I also called them and it was the same story. When I asked her about the 24mb package she didn't seem to know why it wasn't showing as an option at my address. I wonder what the criteria are for qualifying for the 24mb package?

You dont have an active landline I take it?

In that case the system is just making a guess. If you had an active line it would, in 99% of cases, get a prequalification rating for ADSL and VDSL.

If either of your neighbours on either side are with anyone other than Virgin borrow their landline number and put it in here:

Would it not be okay for one person whose internet usage is browsing and watching netflix/streaming video services (one device at a time)? No point paying extra for virgin if the cheaper option will suffice for my needs.

Depends a lot on what speeds you can get. Could be anything from 1 to 20Mbit.

Anyone have any experience with this crowd recently?

And is there any way to check speed before buying into a contract?

Also interested in this, it sounds ideal for our needs, we don't need blistering fast broadband.
