Job - 12 hours

I recently had an interview for a 12 hour position in a school and should it be offered to me it would involve a move. Just not willing to do what would probably be a 2 hour commute each way. So, I was told it would be likely for some subbing but no guarantee on how much I'd get each week so I'm wondering if it would be finically viable for me to make the move? It's in the Dublin area so to share it's a minimum of 400-450 rent I have a loan I'm currently repaying and its maternity cover so no holiday pay. There is potential next year for work in that school but is it viable for me with only 12 hours? Point 1 of pay scale post 2011. If anyone has any advice...?? Thanks. I need to know soon as I was told I'd be contacted tomorrow with a yes/no and if I am offered it I need to tell them on the phone. Thanks

Oh I should have said I'm due to finish a maternity leave (22 hours) in 2 weeks from now

Are hours in your own right or objective grounds?

Do you mean it is 12 hours plus some subbing ? Did you work out what you would get net for 12 hours?
So you won't be paid over christmas, mid term break and Easter, and still have to pay rent?

They are a maternity leave cover but I've been told there is "potential" next year as it's a growing school and maybe hours next year that I may have in my own right. And yes I would be paying rent over midterm/Easter/Christmas and not be paid for holidays

Not exactly what you're looking for but -
12 hours post 2012 on point 1 is around €600 every 2 weeks take home pay.

Well if that's the case it would be very hard to pay the rent etc.. Tough call , I suppose if it's a good school in an area you would like to work in long term ,it could be worth it.
However would you be likely to get a few hours subbing in the school you are in? Are there any job prospects there. A few hours in that school would probably be comparable to 12 hours in a dublin school when you take rent , cost of living etc.. Into account.

Unless you have significant savings it doesn't seem feasible.

Check out the room rental rates in Dublin, unfortunately, that alone could decide it for you.

Would it not be 36*12= 430 a week.
