There have been works on the chapelizod bypass underway the past month. There are new traffic lights on the onramp from the Kylemore Rd. I wonder what they will be for? Is it to control traffic entering the bypass?

Ramp metering, I'd imagine. Its already (rarely) used at the port tunnel / M1 / Coolock Lane interchange. Basically by allowing traffic through in smaller amounts (as low as one car at a time) it can merge with the mainline without the mainline coming to a halt as currently happens.

Its used extremely frequently elsewhere, particularly in the US.

Does anybody know when those [...] traffic lights will be activated? looks like the new bus lane has been ready to go for 3 months now. It boggles the mind to put it politely.
    Any info appreciated. Cheers.
