I am doing research into the different ways that the various sectors pay suppliers for products.

    Farming

When farmers are buying farm supplies from a distributor what way do they usually pay. Is it online banking type of system, over the phone using a debit card, cheque, cash?.

    All feedback appreciated

I'm assuming that is a sarcastic comment, and if so, the most appropriate or decent thing you could have done is ignore my post. I am only asking a question about something I know nothing about.

I am not asking any farmer to tell me any private details about their finances; I simply asked what is the most frequently used form of making payments by the farming sector.

    Cheque's for almost everything.

Only afew years ago it was probably over 90% cheques for most farmers, nowadays 90% of my transactions are either debit card, online bank transfer (for larger amounts), and direct debit for regular payments. Cash is almost never used, bar some very small payments and even then it would only be if I didn't have my wallet.

You do know the next question is why do you want to know and what difference the information makes to you.

You'll find you'll get a lot more info if you're a bit more truthful and not just barge straight in and tell posters to ignore your first post.

most goods would be bought on account and paid off depending on the credit arrangement with the supplier ,

if the rep. calls payment would be by cheque, if paid at premises it would be credit card

we have 2 suppliers who accept bank transfer.

most online purchases would be credit card

cash is rarely used, the exception would be very small once off purchases

    From the charter,
Surveys, Market Research, and other data/information gathering methods are dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

If you wish to engage with the members of the Farming & Forestry forum in any such endeavour, you must first contact the forum moderators.

You will have to explain your intentions in order to satisfy the moderators that your activity is of interest, and potentially of benefit, to the forum and the farming community in general.

The final decision with any aspect of the above rests with the moderators and is not up for debate.

you didn't contact any mods AFAIK about your research so we are locking this one.
